DELL XPS ONE,The All in One PC

The Dell XPS One easily outclasses its all in one competitor ,the gateway One ,and matches or surpasses the Apple iMac,which has long been the gold standard of all in PCs.While the XPS One starts over Rs.70,000, Dell sent us its top of the line Rs.100,000 model for testing with a buit in HDTV tuner ,802.lln wireless capability, and Blu-ray drive.Although the model i reviewed is the expensive in the XPS one family,it is worth the money for the Technology fan with deep pockets.Except for the graphics choice, the XPS one uses components that are competitive those found in traditionally designed desktop power PCs and has the benchmarks to prove it.Better still,it looks good doing it.The XPS one shows once and for all that the future of desktop PCs is in th all-in-one form factor.

The system's 20" widescreen sits a little low on its pivoting arm compared with its rivals.Unlike the gateway one and iMac,it is a lot more propotional in its design. There is no "chin" below the screen, nor is there anything installed above the monitor.Infact, when i first saw the prototype,i actually thought that it was some new fangled XPS branded monitor with built in speakers.Reality sank in when i saw the cable/antenna jack on the back of the case as befits an all in one PC,the XPS one doesn't takes up a lot of space. If you don't need a cable TV hookup or Ethernet ,then the XPS ONE can match the Apple iMac and Gateway One iin the one cable hookup department, thanks to XPS one's wireless keyboard, mouse and 802.lln networking. The XPS one's integrated 2.0 MP webcam offers face recognition(it focuses and zooms on your face). The same technology allows overlay effects like those seen on Logitech and Creative Labs webcams.Out of the box,you can give yourself elf ears or disco lighting effects.

I really have to split hairs to find fault with the XPS One's design. The clear base is too shallow to hold the entire keyboard under the screen, unlike the iMac.The Keyboard will always stick out just a bit when u are not using it.Last but not least, the 20 inch monitor only has a 1680-by-1050 rsolution. While it's sharp , u can't view HDTV in full 1920-by-1080 resolution--not that you had be able to tell the difference on a 20 inch screen.Playing Blu-ray movies on the XPS One was interesting, and the video picture will blow you away.

The dell XPS One is of the most attractive all in one PC's.It look's like a monitor rather than an all in one PC.The Dell XPS One performs better than th competition on multimedia tasks. This is the all in one PC to beat.

Sony Cybershot DSC-T100,Ultimate Capturing Device

The Sony Cybershot DSC T-100 is the current top of the T line of ultra-slim, ultra-compact digital cameras from Sony. It shoots at up to 8.1 megapixels with a stabilized 5x optical zoom lens and you can frame your shots on a large 3 inch LCD. Some newer features, including the already mentioned 5x optical zoom, include a new processor, 9-point AF system, facial detection for auto focus/exposure and HD output.

The T100 has a nice large 3 inch LCD with 230K pixels of resolution. There is no optical viewfinder on this camera. The LCD does well enough in bright light outdoors, so you shouldn’t let the lack of an optical viewfinder rule this camera out of contention . It’s not perfect outdoors, but is bright enough that you can see your shot. Color reproduction on the screen is good and the refresh rate is sufficient to provide a smooth viewing experience.

Sony's various point-and-shoot cameras generally have three things in common:They have exquisite product design, take pictures of excellent quality, and are over-priced.The 8.1 megapixel Sony Cybershot DSC-T100 is no exception. That it possesses the first two qualities I mentioned nearly made it an Editor's Choice Winner, but the steep price(Rs,24,900)knocks it out of contention.

Only canon really comes close to Sony making digital camers with alluring designs. The DSC T-100 has a very attractive brushed-metal surface and is available in silver, black,or red.The camera is just slightly smaller than a dock of cards and will easily fit into a shirt pocket or purse.its indeed a performance packed camera.

The is a nice camera in Sony’s ultra-slim T line. It definitely caters to the individual looking for a high quality, stylish camera who doesn’t mind paying a higher price, as seems to be typical for Sony products. The camera’s specs – 8 megapixels, 5x optical zoom with image stabilization, 3 inch LCD – are also pretty compelling. Image quality is good overall, but heavy noise reduction really muddies up details at sensitivities over ISO 200. The camera operates quickly and has great battery life – another big selling point for users who like to grab the impromptu shots of your friends out on the town.

Pros
  • 5x optical zoom
  • 3 inch LCD
  • Quick speed of operation
  • Excellent battery life

Cons

  • Sluggish, non-intuitive menu system
  • Heavy noise reduction at higher ISO settings

GOOGLE DOCS BETA,The final word in Online Productivity

The beauty of google's new improved office productivity app. Google Docs(formerly Google Docs & Spreadsheets),is its simplicity - as you might expect if you are familiar with gmail.Google provides an uncluttered, elegant interface whose only flaw is possibly being too minimalist, sometimes at the expense of usability.Google Docs is thin on the kinds of features that its competitors boast, but it has also eliminated the glitches that plague them.
Once you have signed on (using any google account),you can create, upload, hide or delete using the toolbar at the top of an efficient document -management widow. The word processor imports and exports files in a multitude of formats, hough all editing is done on HTML.You can tweak the raw code via a link in the editing window Since the program is easily confused, however, this option is best left alone.

The included Google Spreadsheets is also a clean simple app, though not particularly powerful. It supports a generous list of functions, and a Discuss tab lets you chat about documents in real time. The newly introduced Presentation mode offers basic editing functions plus an automatic save function for revisions .But you will have to look elsewhere for extras like flashy transitions.

Though no online document-creation service can replace a desktop based office suit,Google Docs comes the closest, making it as an easy editor's Choice

IRRESISTABLE TO THE CORE,Bose SoundDock Portable

Bose's New SoundDock PORTABLE look a lot like a the original SoundDock, which isn't portable at all .The funny thing is,this new dock isn't all that easy to transport, either. That's despite a hand grip,a retractable iPod tray, and the ability to blast audio at high levels of battery power. That's not to say the new SoundDock isn't an attractive,nice-sounding device. It's just a bit bulky to tote on that trip to Europe.More troubling is its $400 price tag, much too steep for an iPod speaker system.

The remote is approximately 4 by 1.5 by 0.3 inches with eight rubber buttons that feel durable -a great improvement over the cheep-feeling membrane buttons that grace most iPod-dock remotes. the two vertical rows of buttons consist of:power,play/pause,volume up,volume down, playlist backward, playlist forward, skip backward and skip forward. The portable aspect of the SoundDock is nice-even if it is limited to local excursions.Once you've charged up the internal battery, you can carry it anywhere you please. There is no difference in audio quality or output when it was unplugged from the power source.

Fans of Bose's sleek, minimalist look may not be able to resist, but the hefty price tag makes this a splurge- one that's based more on the dock's design than on its audio performance.

CREATIVE ZEN,More Flash For Less Cash

Creative has abavndoned hard drive-based devices, and the new ZEN is the company's first shot at a flash -based music and video player. It has a larger screen and more features(including an FM radio and a voice recorder)than its comparably priced competitor, the ipod nano. The Zen also offers a roomy 16GB version, which rings up at $150 less than the same capacity ipod Touch.

In addition, the ZEN has an SD memory card slot,so the player's capacity is expandable.

Audio file support for the ZEN is fairly good, including WMA,MP3 and unprotected AAC.For Video, the ZEN supports only WMV,but it comes with software to convert DivX/Xvid and MPEG-4 files.JPEGs are the only supported photo format.

The large 2.5-inch,320-by-240-pixel screen displays colourful and sharp images, and the interface uses graphics that are sharp, well designed, and easy to navigate.Audio quality is adequate, but yo will want to upgrade the not so great bundled earphones.

Sure, the ZEN has its flaws:It's nearly as big as some hard drive-based players;it doesn't have a lightning fast start up time;and the interface can be a bit slow. But it works well,is expandable and has more extras thn you fin in Apple players.

Sony Ericsson W980i Review,Specifications,Photos..

The Sony Ericsson W980 is an astoundingly good consumer phone that is beautifully finished, offers that all-important haptic interface to give it a real edge, a full 8GB of onboard memory and some well designed features.Sony Ericsson W980 comes laden with a 3.2Mp camera with flash. This is more discreet than some onboard cameras. It's just below the clamshell handset's hinge and all but hidden by the soft-touch black rubber backing. This finish is not only protective; it also makes the phone feel better built than many other phones.

The internal screen laps in at 2.4-inch wide and QVGA res while the 3.15mp camera with PhotoFlash and autofocus definitely offers some rather delicious imaging options. GPS, WiFi, 8GB internal memory as well as an M2 expansion slot make the guts of this puppy almost as pretty as its exteriors and even though its just a concept, this definitely is one cellphone that can take on most fashion-oriented handsets of the world!
